When is the Best time to buy a MacBook

Apple is known to make great products and MacBook’s are no exception.  But one can say there is never a good time to buy a MacBook because of the hole it will put in your wallet. Even if you are Apple’s biggest fan unless you are filthy rich the cost of a new product will hurt a little.  All joking aside when is the best time to buy a MacBook?

With that said because technology advances so rapidly if you don’t buy a MacBook at the right time you run a big risk.  The big risk is that by not buying at the right time one could pay the same cost for older technology when by waiting a month or two they could they purchase a cutting edge new MAC.

Apple Release schedule

Like most companies Apple sticks to fairly rigid release schedules.  So if you want the latest and the greatest MacBook then keep a lookout for their computer release news.  Apple generally has different release dates then their phones.  Around September or October you can almost guarantee Apple will unveil their new iPhones or Apple watches.  Apple’s computers usually see a mid-year update to the most popular lines. So if you’re thinking of buying a MacBook or iMac, April to October is your window.

Best time to purchase MacBook to save money

Apple doesn’t treat its computers exactly how they treat their phones.  While you can almost always guarantee that you could get an older version phone for a steep discount.  This is not always the case if you buy a MacBook directly from Apple.  You can sometimes see Apple sell older version laptops for the same price or even more than the new release models.  Therefore if you want to save money by buying an older release laptop buying from a certified reseller is probably best from April to October.

Is there really a right time to buy a MacBook?

As with almost any product the right time to buy something is when you genuinely need it.  For example say your MacBook dies, are you going to put everything on hold until the next release date, back-to-school sale, or Holiday Season sales occur.  I don’t think it would be very productive or wise to do this because your production and ability to get stuff done just can’t wait that long.  Therefore if you need one immediately it makes no sense to wait.

If saving is your primary goal then we suggest trying to buy a Macbook during one of the following times:

• Apple’s product cycle (usually from April- October from computers)
• Back-to-school sales (Usually from Mid-July – End of September)
• Holiday Season ( Usually day after Thanksgviing – End of year)

If you want the best bang for your buck and therefore want to get the longest possible life out of your new computer then lining up your purchase with the Apple product cycle release is a must.

In our opinion the best time to buy a Mac or MacBook is when you can definitely afford it.  Once you know you can afford it look for when what computer you want has been or will be updated.  Therefore gives you a longer span between needing a new computer.
